Your First Visit
Your first visit will take between 30 to 45 minutes. We will begin by briefly filling out new patient paperwork.
(This is available on the lower left corner if this page.)
Dr. Baker will then listen to your condition history and goals for treatment. A functional exam will be conducted to find out what the cause of your condition is.
On occasion x-rays, MRI’s, CT’s, or other diagnostic procedure may be ordered if deemed necessary.
When chiropractic care is indicated to help your condition a treatment plan will be issued and implemented.
Dr. Baker uses four main types of care:
Chiropractic Adjustment
A chiropractic adjustment corrects joint misalignment and reduced motion. Each joint in your spine is like a very complex door hinge. If the hinge does not move well or is misaligned, the door will not do it's job correctly. The same is true for your body.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release helps to break scar tissues that may form between muscles, tendons, and ligaments. This technique balances joint and soft tissue tension.
Neuromuscular Re-education
You brain sends a message through your nerves to activate your muscles in a pattern. Your brain may activate muscles in a faulty pattern due to an injury, trauma, or incorrect childhood development. In order to keep certain conditions from reoccurring, you may need to re-program these muscle activation patterns. Specific exercises are shown to help change these patterns.
Electronic Muscle Stimulation
Electric Muscle Stimulation is a machine that will help decrease pain, muscle tension, and muscle spasms. It does not fix a condition but it can help make a chiropractic adjustment more effective.
